The three-minute rotoscoped animation depicts a child encountering an orb of light\u2014observing, chasing, and marveling at its mystery. The work explores our fascination with the unknown and the sense of wonder it evokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each frame was hand-drawn using a unique rotoscoping process: video footage was projected onto a blackboard, traced in chalk, and photographed\u2014over 3,000 drawings in total. The result blends lifelike motion with the expressive imperfections of handmade animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reimagined for the Lightwave Festival at Port Arthur, Tasmania,\u00a0<em>Incandescent<\/em>\u00a0was adapted to reflect themes of resilience and the enduring light of childhood within dark histories.
